Dear Parents, Guardians, and District Staff:
To aid families and staff in planning for childcare and commuting, I am sending out this notice that there is a high probability that school will be released early tomorrow, March 9, 2023.
Based upon the forecast today, we estimate a 1:30 PM dismissal time, though this might be moved earlier if the storm tracks faster. We expect to issue a confirmation of the early release time around 10:00 AM tomorrow.
We are in regular contact with the La Crosse office of the National Weather Service who reports medium-high confidence in the timing of the onset of the storm for the Iowa-Grant School District and a high confidence in the amount of snow per hour, which will make travel hazardous mid to late afternoon tomorrow.
No decision is more difficult than one that affects the safety of our students and staff. We want to ensure that everyone can arrive safely home before the worst of the storm hits tomorrow.
Michael Shimshak
Iowa-Grant Superintendent
