On April 1st the district staff trained with a National Sources of Strength trainer and two trainers from the Barneveld School District in Sources of Strength. On Tuesday, April 2nd, our local 7-12 Sources of Strength student team trained with the trainers as well. The district is teaching the Sources of Strength curriculum in grades K-6 and is beginning campaigns in grades 7-12. Sources of Strength's mission is to provide the highest-quality, evidence-based prevention for suicide, violence, bullying, and substance abuse by training, supporting, and empowering both peer leaders and caring adults to impact their world through the power of connection, hope, help, and strength. Sources of Strength curriculum in grades K-6 focuses on preventing adverse outcomes by increasing well-being, help-seeking, resiliency, healthy coping, and belonging.
