Celebrating Dia de Los Muertos at IGEMS

Annual Iowa-Grant Toy Drive!
Celebrate the season of giving by sharing your new or gently used toys (please no stuffed animals!) and books with the families of the Iowa-Grant School District! If your child has outgrown a toy or that toy they had to have last year has been sitting on the shelf for the last 6 months, now is the time to send it to a new home where it can be loved by another child! Toys and books can be dropped off at IGEMS from November 29th through December 10th. We will also be accepting monetary donations to fill wish lists for our families. If you are interested in sending in a monetary donation please make checks out to the Iowa-Grant School District and mark the envelope Toy Drive.
Any toys and books collected will be made available to families in the district who struggle financially to provide for their families during the holiday season.
Families who are in need of a Santa Sack can contact Darcy Breuer at dbreuer@igs.k12.wi.us to sign up your family. Please include the following things in the email: your name and the best way to contact you, child(ren)’s age and gender, and a wish list of 2-3 items for each child.
Staff members will make up a “Santa sack” for your family and you will be notified when your sack is ready to pick up at the school.
If you have any questions please contact Darcy Breuer at dbreuer@igs.k12.wi.us.
Thank you for your generosity and for helping us bring the Christmas spirit to our community!

2nd grade used a variety of resources to learn about Veterans Day! We focused mainly on the date it’s celebrated on, who we celebrate, and the five branches of the U.S. military. Students wrote about these facts and made special drawings. 2nd graders are wearing their red, white, and blue on Veterans Day!

Thanks to Makenna R. and the Student Salad Movement, IG will be having Chef's Salads at the Middle and High School every Thursday. Join the Student Salad Movement! Vegetables are fantastic!

This is Mrs. Carlson’s first year as the Assistant Director for the Drama Department. As an art teacher at IGEMS, she’s well suited to preparing all the sets and many of the prop and furniture items for the play. Since the play is based on a book, our set is designed to bring the book to life. You’ll notice the pages of the set turning as Iris, Tock, and the Humbug travel through the story. Mrs. Carlson says, "Creating the set for the Phantom Tollbooth was an exciting project that the crew and I took on. While the paintings, prop, and set pieces look out of this world, there's one aspect about set building that you cannot see: planning. To create an 8ft x 16ft moving picture book, it took a lot of problem solving, planning, and testing to ensure that it would work. From sketching the set itself, prepping the panels, to the painting process, each scene takes countless hours to make it 'just right'. The end result is what, literally, opens up to you. I am proud of our crew for taking up the challenge of this set and creating the scenes that will make you feel like you are part of the story as well"

Be a PANTHER!

Youth Apprenticeship and Registered Apprenticeships Informational Meeting on Wednesday, November 17th in the High School IMC from 5:00PM - 6:00 PM for Parents, Students, and Employers.

The 5th grade students got a sneak peek at the play this afternoon! It was a great opportunity to play to a live audience and put all the pieces together. A favorite tradition is the Q+A panel. We had students on the cast and crew come back out after the show to answer questions from our 5th graders. Many of them wanted to know how students balance school, athletics, and work with the play. Needless to say, our students work hard!

IG first graders created a tribute wall honoring veterans that they know. Thank you to all those who have served! We thank our lucky stars for you!
